The VT Boys have powered up the old Mac Pro

The VT Boys have powered up the old Mac Pro to see how fast it still is comparing it with today's generation computers. We connected it up to our two screen via HDMI and Mini Display port, a USB Mouse and Keyboard and used internet sharing via the Mac Mini.

The Mac Pro 1.1 is 8 years old running a Dual Xeon 2.66Ghz Quad Core processor with 16Gb DDR2 667Mhz Ram and ATI 4750 PCIe Graphics card, 8 years ago this computer was top of the range and some of the fastest around, even by today standard it is still very fast.

We have a few Mac's in the house to compare the Mac Pro with and started with the Mac Mini Late 2014 Haswell i5 2.6Ghz, 8Gb DDR3 and Intel Iris graphics card the score was 6000+ while the Mac Pro scored 6000+ as well - wow, okay the Pro costed £3000 8 years ago, the Mac Mini was not even £600, but still this proofs that when you buy a Mac, you can make it last for a long time.
