The VT Boys are going 5K

The VT Boys are going 5K, last weekend Mr Gadget had a big surprise, he was allowed the setup one of Apple best computers about the iMac 5K, this model has the following specs: Intel i5 Broadwell 3.5Ghz Processor with 6Mb Level 3 cache, 16Gb of DDR3 1600Mhz memory, 1Tb Fusion HDD and AMD Radeon R9 M290X Graphics card with 2Gb DDR5 memory - wow.
It took Mr Gadget only 5 minutes to setup the mac and it was ready to be played with, we both sat on front of the screen and we could not believe how great it looked. First we had a look at some 5K images we downloaded from Google, but the big test was to play Grid 2 Reloaded edition in full 5K, we downloaded the installation file from our server - installed it set everything on full or ultra and hooked up our Xbox 360 wireless controller.
Seeing for the first time Grid 2 in full 5K was a feast for our eyes, we still believe this is one of the best games around for the Mac and PC. We played it for a while and as always we are hooked on it.
Next time we will install some other software and see how it goes, but we can say this is the best screen we have seen for a long time.

The VT Boys special visit in the Apple Store (Apple Watch Special)

The VT Boys special visit in the Apple Store (Apple Watch Special) - a few days ago Mr.Gadget and Mr.Mac had a special appointment in the Apple Store in Norwich to try out the new Apple Watch, this was something Mr.Mac promised to do.
We made an appointment with the Genius Bar and within 5 minutes we had our tryout, wow this was special because this was the first time we had seen the Apple Watch life in the flesh.
All I can say was - it weld good and looked even better than on the various of videos we have watched. We both had a try and tried to unlock all the futures - we had a bit of trouble finding out how to change the clock face - however it took Mr.Gadget 2 minutes to figure that out by holding your finger on the clock face and turn the little click wheel at the same time.

Ones finished our session we had some time left to look at the new Mac Pro (6 Cores) and the New 5K iMac again a master piece. Please see the pictures in this blog post.

The VT Boys had a day out

The VT Boys had a day out together, which was very nice. We had not done this for a while, so we drove to Norwich, parked in an NCP Car Park (St.Stephens) for free, because Mr.Mac Senior looks after the IT equipment for this company.

The first thing we did was going to the Apple Store - we also do that when we are in Norwich. (I will write something separate on this)
We had lunch at KFC (Our favourite) and Mr Gadget had a banquet filet box, Mr.Mac Senior had Chicken with chicken hot wings yummy. After a lot of walking we had to stop at Costa for some coffee.

Then Mr.Gadget asked if we can go to Maplin's another shop we liked, so we did and spend a lot of time looking at all sorts of gadgets and Mr.Gadget was already speccing up his new PC.

We look forward to the next time.

The VT Boys have powered up the old Mac Pro

The VT Boys have powered up the old Mac Pro to see how fast it still is comparing it with today's generation computers. We connected it up to our two screen via HDMI and Mini Display port, a USB Mouse and Keyboard and used internet sharing via the Mac Mini.

The Mac Pro 1.1 is 8 years old running a Dual Xeon 2.66Ghz Quad Core processor with 16Gb DDR2 667Mhz Ram and ATI 4750 PCIe Graphics card, 8 years ago this computer was top of the range and some of the fastest around, even by today standard it is still very fast.

We have a few Mac's in the house to compare the Mac Pro with and started with the Mac Mini Late 2014 Haswell i5 2.6Ghz, 8Gb DDR3 and Intel Iris graphics card the score was 6000+ while the Mac Pro scored 6000+ as well - wow, okay the Pro costed £3000 8 years ago, the Mac Mini was not even £600, but still this proofs that when you buy a Mac, you can make it last for a long time.
