The VT Boys are complete again

The VT Boys are complete again - a few weeks ago, Mr.Garfield came back home again for a few days to see his family here in Norfolk and Cambridge wish was lovely. He and his girlfriend live in Bognor Regis and have busy lives.

It was very nice to see him and Ella and have spend the Sunday afternoon in Wisbech and Tuesday evenings in Norfolk with us. Mr.Gadget was also present and we had a lovely Chinese dinner for tea.

We spend the night talking a lot and playing with the gadgets we had in the new house. Since then we have been speaking again on a weekly basic which is very nice. Mr.Mac Junior also paid us a visit a few weeks ago and gave Mr.Mac a new Tassimo machine as his one was broken a few weeks ago. Mrs.Mac received lovely flowers. wow big browny point there for him.

The VT Boys have moved house

The VT Boys have moved house and we are all very happy about that. Our new home is bigger and new. Over the last few weeks we have been working really hard to get everything ready. Mr.Gadget was looking particularly looking forward trying the new Fibre Broadband running at a whopping speed of 300mb / 30mb - wow.

Mr.Gadget assisted with building some flatpacks and moving some stuff from the old house, as usual he is always very helpful.

We also looking forward playing with our slotcar game and building new tracks. We had a lovely day with lots of eating and playing with computers.

The VT Boys had a birthday

The VT Boys had a birthday this weekend and Mr.Gadget is 15 years old hooray. It was very nice to have him on his birthday and also for a sleepover. Just because it was his birthday we still had lots to do, as we are moving to a new house later this month.

We had lots of stuff to throwaway and that means going to the dump ones or twice. It was very handy to have him around as he is always willing to help.

Of course we did lots with our computers and Mr.Gadget had some speed issues with his, especially regarding the frame rates in gaming, his machine is awesome, 8 cores, 8Gb DDR3 high speed ram, EVO 850 SSD and NVidia GTX 950 graphics card, however the machine was running slower, we think because of the anniversary update on Windows 10 Pro.

So we copied all the data over to a external USB 3 drive and some to the second internal drive, re-installed Windows 10 Pro and all the drivers and the machine was very fast again. This is how you deal with these things, you just re-install and most of the time Windows is working fine again.

We also upgraded the Windows Machine of Mr.Mac Senior yes you hear it right he has also a Windows 10 machine, we upgraded the graphics card to AMD R7 240 with 2Gb DDR3 VRAM. this Intel i3 is running very nice and even good for some basic gaming.

For dinning this weekend Mr.Gadget has some of his favorite meals, Babi Ketchap and his birthday cake (Flake) and roast on the Sunday,

The VT Boys had to repair a MacBook Air

The VT Boys had to repair a MacBook Air and this is not a easy job as we have found out. When we got the MacBook it had some trackpad issues but only after warming up for a minute or two and the sound did't work.

So Mr Gadget opened it up and looked where to problem could be. First you need to disconnect the battery, then the Flashdrive before you can have access to the trackpad. All looks to be okay so we suspect it must have so water damage. The MacBook works okay with a external USB mouse and we installed MacOS Sierra beta edition which works really well.

We will keep this MacBook Air in out collection and maybe in the future we can get a new logic board for it and repair it.

The VT Boys have been busy

The VT Boys have been busy in the last few weeks. Mr.Gadget had a busy few weekends as he had lots of events with the Air Cadets, Please see picture below.

We also had time playing with our Slot Cars, we have been very creative making new tracks, longer and bigger with more obstacles.

Next time Mr.Gadget will come over for a long sleep over, we are looking forward to it.

The VT Boys had some shaving training

The VT Boys had some shaving training this weekend, as Mr.Gadget had an important weekend coming up. He needs to look his best for this and next weekend. He will be taking part in a national cadets competition.

We also had time to play with the scalextrics and made a fantastic track this time. Our dinner was simple Pizza (we had pepperoni, meat feast and plane tomato and cheese).

The VT Boys had a sleepover

The VT Boys had a sleepover this weekend, as it was bank holiday weekend, it was nice to have Mr.Gadget over for two days, as we had plenty of time to play with the new Apple iMac. Next time we will publish some more pictures of the Retina 5K iMac with the best graphics card you can get at the moment.

We also had time to build a new racing track for our slot car game - see picture below.

On Sunday in the morning we when't to church to worship our father and the message was excellent as usual presented by Mac. we had some lunch and setup the new track and played with a few new cars we had. We look forward in two weeks time to see each other again.

The VT Boys have been building new tracks

The VT Boys have been building new tracks for the scalextric slot car racing game, Mr Gadget had great fun designing new tracks, it sometimes takes longer to build a track then to play with it, however over the next few months we will be posting new blog post with the designs we made.

Mr.Gadget also had a surprise as VT Girl No.1 was at home with her husband for the week spending some quality time with all of us.

Mr.Gadget is also doing really well at school at the moment and scoring A and A+ for several subjects and he is going to keep this going.



 

The VT Boys have some repairing to do

The VT Boys have some repairing to do as we have some car who are not running to well. This Scalextric hobby start to get serious as we now have more cars, tracks and other accessories, all of this needs maintaining or improving. We even downloaded a program from the internet to edit tracks, keep scores and it has a car database.

Mr Gadget likes playing with the scalextics, he also likes taking the cars apart and clean them, every time when we setup the tracks he things of better, longer and faster ones. Everybody in the house play with the cars, even the VT Girls.

Over the next few weeks we may even have more cars and tracks, who knows we are going crazy here. But it is nice because now we have something else to play with other than computers.

 

The VT Boys had a sleepover this weekend.

The VT Boys had a sleepover this weekend, as VT Girl No.2 had the chance to go for a weekend break at her favourite place in Norfolk. This gave Mr.Gadget the opportunity to come over for a sleepover at Mr.Mac's house.

We had to some shopping after we dropped of VT Girl No.2 as Mr.Mac needed a plastic box for his computer bits. After the shopping we played a little bit with the new PowerBook G4 as Mr.Gadget likes this model very much. He will be borrowing this laptop for the next few weeks go give it a good run for his money and see what you still can do with it. This model is over 11 years old but still runs very well.

Of course we had to get the scalelectics out and build few few tracks, we also had to repair a car as the lights did not work very well and it was running a bit slow, after taken the car apart (old Porsche) it was running much better and all the lights did work again.

We had roast for dinner and ice cream of afters of course, we did see a very good documentary on Netflix on Saturday called The Passion, this was all about the resurrection of Christ and the music was out of this world.

The VT Boys had an important day

The VT Boys had an important day - a few weeks ago Mr.Gadget got a new batch from the Cadets for Best Uniform dated 17 March 2016 - wow. See pictures below. I wish he can only smile a little bit more.

The VT Boys have been working in the shop at Dereham

The VT Boys have been working in the shop at Dereham, as Mr.Mac Senior had lots of stuff to do, it has been very busy at work and Mr.Gadget has offered to help again in the workshop as we needed a new display server build. Now we had plenty of other stuff to get on with such as building a new virtual server for one of our clients, upgrading several Macs with more memory and HDD's and some support calls to attend to as well.

Mr.Gadget likes the new office upstairs and the workshop looked also very good, he likes building new machines from scratch and is very good at it, maybe one day he will work for Mr.Mac Senior as onsite engineer as he likes working with computers a lot.

After a hard days work we had time to get something to eat, so we tried out the new carvery in Dereham, it was very cheap but really good.

The VT Boys had a day in Ely

The VT Boys had a day in Ely as all the cadets from all over the country celebrated the 75 years of its existence. It was an early day for Mr.Gadget as he had to be in Ely at 11:00am, they left in the bus at Wisbech in the morning and assembled in Ely at the car park near at Ely Cathedral for the big perrette.

It was nice to see so many people turning up. Please see the pictures of this beautiful day.

    

The VT Boys have a new graphics card

The VT Boys have a new graphics card the NVidia GTX 950 with 2Gb DDR5 memory from EGA and what a card it is. This GPU is capable of running everything from day to day Applications to high end gaming.

This is the final piece of the computer build and we can say officially the project has been concluded with great success.

Over the next few months Mr.Gadget is going to test this card with all his games, Fall Out 4 will be the game to test it with. We know it is faster than the R9 280x so playing games in high resolution or even 4K should not be a problem.

The VT Boys know that Minecraft does not run in 4K

The VT Boys know that Minecraft does not run in 4K as we tried it to make it work, it would be a bit silly anyway to run it in 4K as it would not look alright. This weekend Mr Gadget has brought his computer with him to do some fine tweaking and see what looks okay in 4K resolution, pretty much most of the games look perfect only some look naff.

We also had time to setup the Scalextric as we had more tracks to use this time, we have also order some more cars and tracks for next time. See picture below of our latest track.

For dinner we had Fish, Mash and Green beans and ice cream for afters, we had a lovely drive back to Cambridgeshire and next week Mr. Gadget has a parade in Ely which the whole family is going to the see him, we are looking forward to it.
